Questions, answered.
Everything makers ask us before their first order. If yours is not here, email us — a real person answers.
What sizes and shapes do you make?
Earring cards come in 2 × 2 in, 2 × 3 in, and 2 × 3.5 in, each with or without a hook hole for hanging. Necklace cards are 2 × 3 in with an optional hang hole, hoop cards are 2 × 3 in with a slot that seats the hoop flat, and stud cards are 1.5 × 2 in. Every size is a real die, not a rectangle with rounded corners drawn on.
What is the card stock?
Heavyweight 125 lb (338 gsm) cardstock, American-sourced, in kraft or black. It is stiff enough that a card does not bow under a pair of hoops. See our materials for the full rundown.
Why can I only print on kraft?
Our press lays down no white ink. On kraft, dark inks look terrific and the warm paper does half the design work. On black stock, however, almost nothing we can print would show — so black is sold blank only. The designer warns you if your artwork is too light to read on kraft before you order.
Will my colors print exactly as they look on screen?
No — and it is worth knowing why before you order. Kraft is brown and printing ink is transparent, so light passes through the ink, reflects off the brown card underneath and comes back tinted. Every color prints darker, warmer and a little softer than it looks on a backlit screen. Deep colors like black, navy and burgundy hold up beautifully; pale and pastel shades lose the most, because there is not enough ink to overcome the brown.
This is not a defect and it is not something we can calibrate away — it is what ink on kraft physically does. The designer preview gets you close, but treat it as an approximation of the color rather than a match. If you want the detail, the stock guide walks through how different colors behave.
What artwork files can I upload?
SVG, PNG, JPG, or PDF, up to 25 MB. SVG is best — it is vector, so it prints razor-sharp at any size. A PDF works too: we use its first page, rendered at print resolution. For PNG or JPG, upload the largest version you have; we automatically upscale it for the print file, but upscaling can only smooth an image, never add detail that was not photographed in the first place.
A transparent-background PNG or SVG will let the kraft show through behind your logo. A white-background file will print as a white box of no ink — which on kraft looks like a blank rectangle. Trim the background before you upload.
Can I design the whole card in my own software?
Yes. Every card's designer page has a “Download this card's template”link — an SVG artboard at the card's exact physical size showing the cut shape, the holes, and the safe area as a guides layer. Open it in Illustrator, Inkscape, Affinity, or Canva, design your card on top, delete the guides layer, export, and upload the result back into the designer.
If the guides sneak into your export anyway, the designer detects them and flags the order for a free-of-surprises human check before anything prints — you will never silently get blue guide lines on your cards.
How do I know my logo will print cleanly?
The designer measures it for you, live, while you place it. It shows the real print resolution in DPI for the size you have scaled it to, warns when text is below the size that survives printing, flags anything running off the card edge, and catches art too light for kraft.
If something is borderline we offer a $12.00 design review: a human redraws or cleans up the art before it goes to press. It is optional, and only offered when your file actually needs it.
Do you send a proof to approve?
The live preview in the designer is your proof — what you approve at checkout is what we print, so there is no waiting on a proof email before production starts. If we spot a problem after checkout we contact you before doing anything, and never charge you again without approval.
What is the minimum order?
Earring cards start at 100 per pack; hoop, necklace, and stud cards start at 25. Larger packs bring the per-card price down — the tiers are on each product page.
How long does an order take?
Standard production is 5–7 business daysbefore the order ships, and you can buy your way up the queue with Express or Rush at checkout. Transit time on top of that is USPS's. Full detail on the shipping & turnaround page.
Can I change or cancel an order?
Yes, within 24 hours of checkout as long as production has not started — email us right away. After that the cards are printed and cannot be unwound. See returns & refunds.
Do you keep my design for reorders?
We do. Email us with your original order number and we will reprint the same design — no need to rebuild it. Ask us to delete your files any time and we will.
Do you do custom shapes or dies?
Beyond the shapes listed here, tell us what you need. Email info@customearringcards.com with your sketch and dimensions and we will tell you honestly whether we can cut it.
